I absolutely love Brussels sprouts and one of my favorite ways to have them is with some bacon. Bacon is like butter the way it makes everything taste AMAZING, plus with the crunch that the air fryer gives it, you just want to eat them over and over again.

They are only available here in Portugal at one supermarket, and we have a 1-hour round up trip to buy them, so we don’t get them as often as we would like. Plus they are transported from the UK and can often look a bit worse for wear by the time we buy them.

When we make airfryerBrusselSprouts with bacon, they taste so good, but also taste so bad for you that you would assume that they had been cooked in a lot of fat and that you are going to put on half a stone if you eat them. I was 16 at the time and there was free booze, loads of food and lots of love and laughter.

My mum had got me this awful green skirt suit to wear, with white platform heels and I looked ridiculous. Next time you are looking for that amazing side to be your star attraction then I highly recommend that you give airfryerBrusselSprouts with bacon a run for their money.

Crispy pieces of bacon and no oil make this the vegetable side dish from heaven. Remove the core and the outside skin of the Brussels Sprouts and place them into your Air Fryer.

Remove all visible fat and place them in the Air Fryer when it beeps. The final cooking process is done at 200c as it needs to be hotter for the bacon to be lovely and crispy. If you’re partly cooking the Brussels sprouts first in the Instant Pot, then drain them and then place them in the Hairdryer for 5 minutes with the bacon starting with point 2 of the recipe. Like when you are searing beef, its always important not to overcrowd the Brussels sprouts otherwise they won’t cook properly.

My husband LOVES Brussels sprouts and when I was recipe testing for my air fryer he just knew they would work well in one. Since we’re trying to eat healthier I knew it was a veggie he loved, so I tried this simple recipe.

The color should be bright green, without yellow or brown tipped edges. Buy sprouts of similar size, so they will cook in about the same amount of time.

Some outer leaves may fall off, but that will just give more crispy and varying textures to enjoy. I find using a mandolin is often much faster than using a knife if I have a lot of sprouts to cut.

After tossing the sprouts with the bacon and fat, spread them in an even layer on the bottom of the air fryer basket. This option would also work without bacon, but you would need to substitute 1 teaspoon of olive oil to coat the sprouts with to get them browned and crispy.

Other add-ins you might enjoy are red pepper slivers, onion pieces or diced shallots. You can cut them in half but you might want to parboil them for 5 minutes before air frying them, so they cook all the way through and don’t get dry and hard.

Completely dry them with a paper towel then proceed as the recipe states and you should be good to go! Substitute 1 teaspoon olive oil instead of the bacon fat to coat before cooking.

Remove foil tray with bacon carefully to avoid being burned by hot oil. Open air fryer at about 7 minutes to shake the sprouts around so all sides can cook evenly.

Remove from air fryer when the sprouts are caramelized and crispy on the outside and the center are cooked through. My mandolin is ancient, but I've used the Ox one at a friend's home and it worked beautifully.

It also makes great french fries, julienne carrots and does many pretty vegetables in addition to slicing sprouts. As an Amazon Associate and member of other affiliate programs, I earn from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you.

I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to just make regular old roasted brussels sprouts, but this airfryerrecipe is so darn easy and there's a ton of BACON ! First step is to lay your bacon in a single layer in the air fryer.

While the bacon is cooking, you can trim the brussels sprouts (photo 4). Toss the trimmed brussels sprouts and par-cooked bacon in a large bowl and then transfer to the air fryer (photo 5).

You can make this recipe for bacon and brussels sprouts at the beginning of the week as part of your meal prep. I don't advise reheating them in the microwave as they will be softer and less crispy, however it doesn't change the taste.

Plus, it's not always easy to bring the good of' air fryer into work when there's a microwave readily available. You can also spread them on a baking sheet and reheat in a 400 degree F oven for a few minutes.

Add the bacon to the air fryer basket and avoid overlapping as much as possible. Add partially cooked bacon and brussels sprouts to the air fryer.

About the brussels sprouts : If you like them really crispy, pull the outer leaves off when you trim them but be sure to cook them up. About the air fryer : I find that they all cook a little differently depending on the size and shape of the fry basket.

These crispy Brussels sprouts are coated in olive oil and peppered with bacon crumbles. It’s a gluten free, Eco-friendly side dish that’s ready in less than 15 minutes in the air fryer.

While Brussels Sprouts don’t often get the attention that other side dishes might receive, I happen to adore them. I was served boiled Brussels as a child, which is hands-down the most disgusting way to prepare this cabbage.

While they may appear to be burnt, those extra crispy leaves are highly addictive and coveted. Brussels' sprouts are a type of cabbage, belonging to the mustard family Brassicaceae widely grown in Europe and North America for its edible buds called sprouts.” They grow along a tall, single stem.

So, in short, Brussels sprouts are basically delicious, miniature cabbages that you should definitely roast and NOT boil. You only need 5 minutes of prep time to trim them (you don’t want the hard nub at the end) and cut them in half vertically.

Into a large bowl add: Brussels, bacon, olive oil and balsamic. To make these in a traditional oven, place tossed Brussels onto a rimmed baking sheet.

The air fryer renders the fat from the bacon and sweats the sugary juices from the onions in order to provide the Brussels sprouts with the perfect foundation for a flavorful, crunchy roast in the air fryer. There are loads of vitamin C to help your immune system get a boost and even cancer-fighting glucosinolates.

Simply add about 5 more minutes to the cook time, this will allow the Brussels sprouts to thaw. Yes, you can put tin foil or parchment paper in the air fryer to keep your food from sticking to the bottom.

I recommend only using parchment paper, or tin foil, for particularly tricky foods since it is counteractive to how an air fryer works. We want the air fryer to be able to circulate the air inside the device and as soon as we block the holes at the bottom of the air fryer, it will begin to suffocate the air circulation and your food won’t get as crispy on the bottom.

When cooking high-fat foods in the air fryer, you may experience a cloud of white smoke develop in the device. To prevent smoke in your air fryer you can add a couple of tablespoons of water to the bottom of the basket.

If you are cooking especially greasy foods, like bacon, you can also put a piece of bread in the bottom of the basket, just take out the removable rack at the bottom of the basket and place a piece of bread down there and replace the rack. The bread will soak up the excess grease and prevent the air fryer from smoking.

However, if you want to cook low fat and leave the oil out of the recipe you can always use parchment paper to prevent sticking. Since the air is circulating air, similar to a convection oven, I always recommend setting your air fryer to a lower temperature and monitoring the cooking progress throughout the cooking time.

Even at lower temperatures, your items may finish cooking sooner than expected. But if you plan to cook these up as a side then check out these other delicious recipes for some great accompaniments to your veggies.

Add the bacon and onion slices to the air fryer and cook for 7 minutes at 390 °F. Add the Brussels sprouts and stir them around to coat them with a little of the bacon fat.

If the bacon and Brussels are not as crispy as you like then air fry them for an additional 3 to 5 minutes. If your air fryer is smaller than cut the recipe in half or cook in batches.

Since the ingredients are stacked on top of each other you will need to stop and stir everything every 5 minutes as the Brussels sprouts cook. Adding water to the bottom of the air fryer basket holder is optional but will reduce smoke as the bacon cooks.

It will also make the air fryer easier to clean the bacon grease when you finish cooking. Choose Brussels sprouts that are similar in size to ensure even cooking.

Personally, I think these crispy bacon brussels sprouts are best paired with Black Bean and Corn Soup or Crackpot Steak Chili, but I guarantee they will complement any entrée they are served with. It’s always nice to give business to small farmers right in your hometown and the freshness is superior.

If the brussels sprouts are not already cut in half you will need to use a sharp chef’s knife in order to do so. Make sure to use a cutting board, so you don’t damage your countertop.

1/2 lb Fresh Brussels Sprouts 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil Salt to taste 2 chopped strips of cooked Bacon (click for easy air fryer bacon) In a medium bowl, toss Brussels Sprouts with olive oil and salt.

The sprouts get super crispy when they are cooked with the flavorful bites of bacon. You could make Brussels sprouts in the regular oven, but you need to cook them at such a high temperature that you’re more likely to burn them.

Wash, trim and halve one pound of fresh brussels sprouts. Add about 1/4 cup of water to the bottom of your air fryer to help prevent smoking.

As always, please do see the recipe card at the end of this post for the exact ingredients and measurements. Check on your Brussels sprouts about halfway through to toss them and make sure they aren’t burning.

They take up a lot of space on your kitchen countertop, so I tend to recommend a smaller size model for most people. Chop up any leftover cold sprouts for a crunchy addition to salads.

I made these balsamic bacon Brussels sprouts in just 10 minutes in an air fryer. I put off buying an air fryer for about year but a few friends rave about it, and so I broke down and bought one.

So these balsamic bacon Brussels sprouts are my newest experiment. My husband and I ate them for lunch, but they’d be a great low-carb appetizer.

For this recipe I wanted to use thick bacon because it holds its shape well and it will take about the same time to cook as the Brussels sprouts. As you can see below I bought a thick cut peppered bacon from Aldi.

You don’t have to use peppered bacon but I personally like the added spice. Then place your food on a removable basket and cook at desired temperature.

In a saucepan melt butter, sweetener and balsamic vinegar. Once it starts to simmer, whisk it well to combine and then pour over your cut Brussels sprouts.

We wanted to see if we could use the air fryer to make “fried” Brussels sprouts that kept their virtuous qualities but tasted as decadent as their deep-fried counterparts. Since we usually achieve crispiness (when not frying) by using a very hot oven, we tossed the Brussels sprouts in a little oil and roasted them in the air fryer at 400 degrees.

We tried adding a splash of water before cooking the sprouts, hoping the resulting steam might soften them faster, but no luck. The solution turned out to be more obvious: Lowering the heat to 350 degrees gave the sprouts time to soften on the inside while the outside crisped.
