08/03/2020 Followed the recipe exactly and dumped 1# into my 5 quart fryer. I am not sure the boiling water step is required but I’ll experiment some more.
11/20/2021 Made French fries per recipe, and they were fine, but to me, they didn’t turn out any differently than just slicing up the potatoes, tossing them with oil, and air frying them. The soaking and boiling and cooling and drying were more work and time for no gain I could perceive.
06/07/2020 Followed recipe except I added some turmeric for color and a bit of smoked paprika. I added sea salt right before serving.
Cut the potato in half lengthwise, then into 1/4-inch slices. Put the fries in a medium bowl and rinse them well with cold water, then drain and pat dry with paper towels.
Toss the fries with the oil in a medium bowl, then sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon salt and several grinds of pepper. Working in batches if necessary, put the fries in an even layer in the air fryer basket with no overlapping and cook, turning them halfway through, until golden brown and crisp, 14 to 16 minutes.
These homemade French fries come out perfectly golden and crisp and only use 1 teaspoon of oil…just another reason to love your air fryer. One large potato and a half tablespoon of olive oil.
Guess how many ingredients are in a popular brand of store-bought frozen French fries ? Just a minute, let me count: Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (Sunflower, Cottonseed, Soybean, And/Or Canola), Modified Food Starch, Rice Flour, Salt, Detain, Cornstarch, Leavening (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Sodium Bicarbonate), Dextrose, Nathan Gum, Annette (Color), Disodium Di hydrogen Pyrophosphate.
Hot air is circulated around the food on a rack, producing a crispy product without the added oil and extra calories of deep-frying. Just a bit of heart healthy olive oil is added to these French fries for flavor, saving a ton of calories.
Or douse them in your favorite chili, smothered with cheese sauce. If you have leftovers (can’t imagine that scenario, but you never know), pop them back in the air fryer to crisp them up again when you’re ready to serve them.
Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper Place a single layer of fries in the basket of the air fryer and cook for 10-15 minutes or until crispy and golden brown. Serve immediately, or see notes to keep warm while air frying additional batches.
It’s easy to double or triple, but you’ll still want to cook them in batches so the air can flow around them and make them super crispy. If you choose to make a large batch, put cooked fries on a wire baking rack placed on top of a sheet pan in a warm oven (175-200ºF).

Then off to the air fryer and in under 20 minutes, you’ll have deliciously crispy fries ready to dip in ketchup. Russet potatoes olive oil spray kosher salt freshly ground black pepper and/or any other seasonings like; garlic powder, cayenne, all-purpose seasoning salt or old bay.
Season with a few pinches kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. By using circulating hot air, it moves at a high speed so the food tends to cook in a fraction of the time.
Once preheated, add the potatoes in somewhat of an even layer in the basket of your air fryer and air fry for 9 minutes. Note that the smaller fries will be done before the bigger ones so remove those to avoid burning.
In a large bowl, add the potatoes fries and spray with olive oil until coated evenly. Toss with a few pinches kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper Use tongs to arrange the potatoes in the bottom of your air -fryers basket.
Air -fry for 9 minutes, shake the basket and rearrange the potatoes in a single layer×. Transfer the crispy fries to a wire rack set before repeating.
Once all the fries are brown, throw them back into the air fryer and reheat for 1 to 2 minutes. As an Amazon Associate and member of other affiliate programs, I earn from qualifying purchases.
