When I first became obsessed with my Hairdryer a few years ago, a friend of mine mentioned that I should try lobster tails in it. Now any time I can find lobster tails on sale, I grab a few, and we eat them for dinner.

I combine butter, minced garlic, freshly chopped chives, salt, and a squeeze of lemon juice and microwave until melted. Then I place my lobster tails in my Hairdryer and spread some garlic butter over the lobster.

There is only one trick that you need to know before you air fry these lobster tails, and that is how to cut them open, otherwise, they will not cook. Brush your lobster tails with butter, add some salt and pepper, then air fry at 380 degrees for 4 minutes, and then add melted butter, and air fry for another 2 minutes.

You can often buy them frozen at any grocery store in the seafood aisle. I used thawed lobster tails because I think they air fry better, but if you use frozen just add a couple of minutes to the cooking time below.

Using a meat thermometer, check to see if the temperature is at least 140 degrees F. But be careful, the shells if very sharp, once you start breaking them.

I love home cooking because it makes a dish like a baked lobster tail so much more accessible and affordable. Humidity in fridges is very low so all that excess water will evaporate rather quickly. Seeing amazing results with letting steaks rest after searing and before finishing them, I wanted to see how that could be implemented with air frying.

The meat surface temperature does not get hot enough to warrant an intermittent rest time. That’s the reason an air fryer steak does not have that intensely gray, overcooked area near the surface.

Sprinkle the steaks with salt and pepper, place on a plate and refrigerate for 2-3 days, uncovered. This step is recommended for superior tenderness and enhanced flavor, but you can skip it if pressed for time.

Remove the steaks from the fridge 45-60 minutes before cooking and let them sit at room temperature. Brush the steaks with melted butter on both sides, place on the rack of your air fryer.

The times will need to be adjusted further if air frying steaks thicker or thinner than 1.25” thick. These cooking times are approximate, so use an instant read thermometer in conjunction with the table in the Notes section.
