Our Airfryerpotatochips recipe is quick, easy and healthy when compared to normal store bought chips. Red potatoes were too waxy and didn’t give us the crunch-factor that we wanted.

Make sure to not overcrowd the basket as the chips will cook unevenly. We suggest cooking the potato chips in smaller, single layer batches.

There’s so many great tools to help make these crunchy air fried potato chips easier and quicker. These safety gloves are great to help minimize accidentally cutting your hand on the mandolin.

Silicon tongs or spatulas are great to gently lift and separate the potato slices during cooking. Also, the silicone tips won’t scratch the inside of your air fryer rack or basket.

1 medium potato (russet, yellow, or gold) about 1 Tablespoon (30ml) oil spray salt, to taste pepper, to taste optional: ground cumin, garlic powder or onion powder or paprika (A mandolin with cut-resistant gloves makes this step quick & even).

Toss potatoes to evenly coat all sides with the oil and seasonings. Spray the air fryer basket/tray with oil to minimize sticking.

Continue to Air Fry at 340 °F/170 °C for 3-5 minutes increments or until they start to crisp on the edges. Separate the potatoes, so they don’t stick together and this helps the chips crisp on both sides.

Finishing : When you see crisp brown edges, reduce heat to 280 °F/140 °C and Air Fry for another 2-5 minutes or until they are dry. It’s better to air fry single layers in multiple batches than one big batch. If your air fryer is preheated or if you are cooking multiple batches, you may need to reduce timing by a few minutes (unless preheating is called for in the recipe).

Advertised as a healthy, guilt-free way to enjoy your favorite fried foods, air fryers have experienced a recent surge in popularity. They are claimed to help lower the fat content of popular foods like french fries, chicken wings, empanadas and fish sticks.

An air fryer is a popular kitchen appliance used to make fried foods such as meat, pastries and potato chips. This also results in a chemical reaction known as the Millard effect, which occurs between an amino acid and a reducing sugar in the presence of heat.

This can have a major impact on your health, as a higher intake of fat from vegetable oils has been associated with an increased risk of conditions like heart disease and inflammation (5, 6). One study of 33,542 Spanish adults found that a higher intake of fried foods was associated with a greater risk of obesity (7).

Because air -fried foods are lower in fat than deep-fried products, switching to an air fryer may be an easy way to cut calories and promote weight loss. In addition to being higher in fat and calories, frying food can create potentially dangerous compounds like acrylamide.

Although the results are mixed, some studies have found an association between dietary acrylamide and an increased risk of kidney, endometrial and ovarian cancers (10). Aldehydes, hetero cyclic amines and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are all other potentially dangerous chemicals that are formed with high-heat cooking and may be associated with a higher risk of cancer (12).

They are lower in fat, calories and even some potentially harmful compounds that are found in traditionally fried foods. If you’re looking to lose weight or lower your fat intake without modifying or cutting down on fried foods, switching to an air fryer may be a good choice.

A multitude of studies have shown that eating fried foods may be associated with numerous adverse effects on health. For example, a study of 15,362 people found that eating more fried foods was associated with a greater risk of heart failure (13).

Frequently eating fried foods has been associated with other conditions as well, such as type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure (17, 18). Instead, opt for healthier cooking methods, such as baking, roasting, steaming or sautéing, to boost flavor and avoid the negative health effects of fried foods.

After I received an air fryer for Christmas, I discovered how simple it is to make potato chips in it. Good chips are an essential, crispy side for lunch.

2 large potatoes Olive oil-flavored cooking spray 1/2 teaspoon sea salt Minced fresh parsley, optional Using a mandolin or vegetable peeler, cut potatoes into very thin slices.

The skin of the potatoes can be left on, or you can take an extra step and peel them before slicing them. After soaking the potato slices in cold water, be sure to dry them off completely on a kitchen town or paper towel before tossing them in oil so that the oil sticks to them.

Clean the potatoes and slice them thin with a food processor, mandolin slicer or a very sharp knife. Place the potato slices into a bowl and cover them with cold water; allow them to soak for 30 minutes.
