Appliances and electronics designed for the United States have limited or no use in many other countries due to differences in voltage. Kitchen ® does not recommend the use of adaptors or transformers due to the potential dangers that differences in cycles/second can create.

What many consumers are not aware of is the potential danger that differences in cycles/second can create. Running 60 Hz appliances in a 50 Hz environment forces the motor in your appliance to run at a slower speed, and can potentially cause immediate motor or operational failure.

Not only is this failure not covered by any manufacturer's warranty, but has been known to result in electrical shortages and/or fires. Over the years, a number of people have asked if it was possible to bring a Kitchen mixer from the United States to Europe, and use it here.

Several readers kindly chimed in with comments and suggestions noting that theirs worked fine with a voltage transformer. And I have friends who’ve had their kitchens in Europe wired for 110V as well as the standard 220V.

But I thought I’d ask the folks at Kitchen what their policy was and posed a few questions to them, which they kindly responded to. A: Hazards include: overheating, possible property damage, and personal injury.

The bottom line is we don’t recommend use of the units outside the U.S…due to the hazards that could arise. Another issue that arises is with the Kitchen ice cream attachment.
