Known as The Pioneer Woman, Free Drummond oversees a thoroughly modern media empire as a Food Network star, lifestyle blogger, and self-described desperate ranch wife who’s obsessed with butter and Ethel Merman. She has lent her name to a number of products, including the Pioneer Woman Vintage Speckle Nonstick 10-piece cookware set, sold exclusively at that little general store down the road, Walmart.
In our tests, water quickly came to a near-boil in the stockpot, and of the 14 nonstick cookware sets we tested, the Pioneer Woman cookware set was the only one to score excellent in both cooking evenness and nonstick durability. And in our food-release tests, four fried eggs, one after another, slid out of the skillet with some nudging once the coating was scratched.
Cookware can be expensive, and the three sets that scored higher than the Pioneer Woman cost exponentially more. Even then, only the top-rated Swiss Diamond Reinforced 10-piece set, which costs $600, made our recommended list.
Wash pots and pans by hand with hot water, soft sponge, and dishwashing liquid. It’s easier on the nonstick surface, even when the manufacturer claims the cookware can be cleaned in the dishwasher.
Do not place empty nonstick pans over very high heat because it can cause the coating to deteriorate. Properly dispose of pans as soon as the coating begins to flake, so your food doesn't start sticking.
Soft touch and riveted handles for secure, comfortable grip; The handles can cook with high temperature up to 350 degree f Nonstick ceramic coating is metal utensil safe and PTFE, FOA, cadmium and lead free There are good things about ceramic cookware that should make you feel excited about it.
But there are also weaknesses that you should be aware of before you take the plunge and replace all your existing cookware with ceramic ones. Obviously, there’s a lot of price ranges out there, but ceramic pots and pans are usually wonderful value.
This actually makes them safer than Teflon coated pans, which do emit toxic fumes when overheated. They don’t have the same standards of health there, so a very small amount of pots and pans have paint coatings containing lead.
However, as long as you’re buying it from a reputable company and legitimate dealer, you’re going to be safe, as they’re all tested and held to the same standard. Ceramic pots and pans tend to be heavy and cumbersome, which not only makes it harder to move them around the kitchen and beyond, it also increases the risk of dropping and other accidents.
Unless treated absolutely perfectly, it’s normal to see ceramic cookware looking a little rough around the edges after a couple of years of standard use. On top of this, like we said up there, these things are heavy, so dropping them can cause a lot more damage to your kitchen, as well.
In general, I’d expect a decent set of ceramic pots and pans to last around 3 to 5 years of good use. We looked at a total of 15 cookwares manufactures and found no industry standard labelling.
Through our research, we found that ceramic coated cookware is made differently. On the other hand, solid ceramic cookware starts with clay and water.
This mixture is poured into stainless steel molds that produce a solid ceramic pot and pan. As mentioned earlier, solid ceramic cookwares are a lot heavier so you can “feel” the pan while you cook.
With solid ceramic cookware, because they are made of clay and water, they are more prone to chipping. Detailed care must be taken to avoid dropping or banging the cookware against hard surfaces.
Overall, we would recommend safe healthy aluminum cookware that’s coated with ceramic as it’s lighter and less prone to chipping. The set is made of a durable aluminum body with a flat base.
The 15-piece cookware is easy to clean and food doesn’t stick on the interior ceramic nonstick surface. Use the silicone handles to hold the cookware as you cook and the lid will allow you to view the food.
