If you’ve never had tofu before, the first thing you should know is that you are going to need to press the water out of it. I did this for years by placing the tofu on a plate lines with a clean kitchen towel and placing a heavy cast iron skillet on top.

I recently broke down and finally bought this tofu press (affiliate) from Amazon, and I love it. Whatever method you use, make sure to let the tofu press about 20 to 30 minutes to get the most water out of it.

Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered from the flavor angle. Next, flip each of those quarters on its side, and cut each section in half, length-wise like so.

Now that you have eight long pieces, you are going to shift your knife ninety degrees to make cubes. I use a super simple marinade: Tamara (or soy sauce) + Dijon mustard + garlic powder.

Arrange the cubes evenly, so that the air has room to circulate. Note: give the tofu a toss about halfway through cook time.

Enjoy airfryertofu with dipping sauce, in salads, with rice, or in noodle bowls like this. Full recipe for this bowl of goodness is coming soon, FYI. Airfryertofu is the quickest and easiest way to make crispy tofu, and you don't even need to add oil thanks to the magic of the air fryer.

14 ounces tofu (one block, extra firm) 3 Tablespoons low sodium Tamara (or soy sauce) 1 Tablespoon Dijon mustard 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder optional: 1/4 teaspoon squeeze or sriracha I love it if I have some, but it will still be good without it. Start with drained and pressed tofu, and dice into bite sized cubes.

Arrange the cubes evenly, so that the air has room to circulate. Cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit (no need to preheat) until crispy, about 10 minutes.

Note: give the tofu a toss about halfway through cook time. Serve immediately with dipping sauce, on salads, in rice bowls, or with veggies, rice noodles + your favorite sauce if desired.

Turns out, an air fryer does a stellar job of cooking up cubes of marinated tofu into perfectly browned and crispy bites. Toss them into stir fries, noodle dishes and salads, or eat them as a protein-packed snack with a simple dipping sauce such as the one here.

No breading required, just a to die for sauce to make crispy bites you can throw right into your mouth! It is hard to compare the two exactly as each cut of beef and/or chicken will vary its nutritional content.

BUT it IS an excellent source of plant based protein and fiber without the cholesterol and saturated fat. Ok, so I was born and grew up in Hawaii and did eat a lot of rice and tofu there.

I thought it was a “normal” every day food until I got older and lived in the states. I will say the soft version isn’t my favorite BUT firm with a great sauce and crisped is amazing.

Firm or extra firm (best) tofu Soy sauce Garlic chili sauce Sesame oil Minced garlic Sesame seeds and diced green onions are great as a garnish The timing will vary just slightly depending on how crispy you want the outsides to be.

If anything you can just lightly spritz olive oil to really crisp up the outsides but that’s not even necessary. It’s a great recipe that requires no breading and if you use Tamara or coconut amino and a bit of garlic powder it would be a gluten free option.

It could be used as a quick meal, air fryer appetizer or pop into your mouth snack. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions or chives.

Packed with protein they have tons of flavor with this Asian style sauce. I do not recommend after 6 minutes shaking the basket as they may break apart, just flip each one over.

Once you press the water out you’ll need to eat it that day. If you just want to cook half put the other piece in a container with some cold water.

Wrap the tofu block in a light cheesecloth or a few paper towels that have been folded together, press firmly but don't break it apart. Cut your tofu into 1" cubes and put into a shallow dish.
