When attempting to extract their juice, you’ll find that leafy greens like to put up a decent fight before they give in. Some of the best juicers for leafy green use a spinning mechanism, and they’re able to extract more juice than alternative products.

Masticating juicers are good at getting every drop of juice out of your favorite leafy greens, and with help from a spinning auger, they can effectively grind and chew your produce. When they’re finished extracting the juice, masticating juicers eject the pulp and leave you with nothing but the good stuff.

For example, one type of juicer might work well for citrus fruits, but when used for leafy greens like juicing spinach or kale, it’s almost completely useless. Every type of juicer comes with benefits and drawbacks, and if you’re going to be working with leafy greens, then you have several options to consider.

With a powerful motor, it quickly grinds through leafy greens, and it operates at a low speed of 80 Rpm. An additional benefit of the reduce speed is a longer shelf life, which allows you to store fresh juice for up to 72 hours.

When compared with some other products, the Omega J8006 has a much stronger auger, and the processing system extracts all the nutrients from your leafy greens. The Omega J8006 is ideal for juicing pine tree needles, spinach, cabbage, kale and wheatgrass, and it can help you access more nutrients from every piece of material.

Here we have another great masticating juicer, and with a wide feeding chute, it’s ideal for converting leafy greens into healthy, tasty juice. The Kings B6000S is made of Ult em Titan ABS, and with a simple design, it has no trouble fitting into a cramped kitchen.

With its patented features, it works well for juicing leafy greens, vegetables and fibrous fruits. Since it operates at such a low speed, this juicer preserves more nutrients, and it also reduces prep time.

The Kings B6000S can effectively squeeze the juice out of leafy greens, vegetables and whole fruits, and it also includes a special component for making sorbet. It features a centered knife blade assembly and uses a 700-watt motor to slice through leafy greens.

After the powerful motor cuts the material into pieces, the spin chamber extracts juice with speeds up to 14,000 Rpm. A three-inch feed tube is designed to take large amounts of fruits or vegetables, and a stainless-steel mesh filter delivers fresh, clean juice.

The cutting disc is made of durable titanium, and a stabilizing knife helps to keep the machine working properly. The Gourmet GJ750 is great for fruits and vegetables, but it can extract more juice from leafy greens than many competing models.

The size of the feed tube is large enough for whole fruits and vegetables, and the 8.5-cup pulp tank is removable, which makes juicing faster and easier. The Essential Professional juicer is another top product, and it uses a 700-watt motor to slice through fruits, vegetables and leafy greens.

Since it uses a stainless-steel cutting disc, it’s easy to clean, and the durability of steel ensures a long lifespan for the product. The two-speed motor can extract juice from hard and soft produce, and with an extra-wide chute, you don’t have to spend hours prepping your fruits and vegetables.

The safety locking arm adds an extra layer of protection against injuries, and the parts are dishwasher safe. Herbs and leafy greens are very important for your health, and if you’re not getting enough of them, your diet could be lacking essential nutrients.

There is nothing wrong with feeding hard stems into your juicer, and since they’re packed with nutrition, they shouldn’t be wasted. It’s a good idea to give your body some time to get used to the potent juice from leafy greens.

When your body is forced to detoxify itself too quickly, there is a good chance that you’ll end up feeling nauseous. A lot of people like to start with cucumbers or celery, but you can use almost any fruit or vegetable to hide the taste of the bitter greens.

You can make your favorite juices whenever you want, with the exact taste you like, the garnishes that please your aesthetic eyes, and at an overall pretty low cost. Be it a question about the different types of juicers, the benefits and drawbacks of juicing, or anything juicing-related, you will find your answer here.

Will it really “transform your body and mind”, and bring you the radiant skin and the silky hair that so many people have claimed it does them? Before splurging on an expensive juicer, it’s important that you thoroughly understand all the benefits and the risks of juicing.

Both juicers and blenders can make healthy, delicious drinks from fruits and vegetables. Juicers come in different types, each working best for a certain kind of fruits and vegetables.

In a centrifugal juicer, a mesh chamber with sharp teeth spins at a very high speed to shred the materials and separate the juice. They typically have a large feeding chute that can chow down bigger items without rebutting, which minimizes prep work.

The major disadvantages of this type of machine are the noise, heat, and oxidation resulted from their great speed. Besides, while they’re good for thick, hard, crunchy fruits and veggies, these juicers are much less efficient in handling leafy greens.

Fast, short prepping, juicing, and cleaning time Easy to assemble/disassemble Affordable Takes little space A masticating juicer has an auger that works to crush the material and squeeze it against the chamber to extract juice.

(Source: www.quora.com)

These machines require more preparation time too: their small chutes means you have to pre-cut everything before feeding. Some have separate kits for making noodles, grinding nuts and seeds, and chopping veggies.

They come in all shapes, sizes, and materials, some manual, others electric, with a vast difference in the prices. Citrus juicers are used mainly for making orange juices, but most can also do lime, lemon, grapefruit, and even pomegranate.

Unlike fast juicers which spins at more than 10,000 rpm to extract juice, this machine does the job with an auger turning and squeezing the fruits/veggies against the chamber wall. Plus, with a slow speed, you don’t have to worry about the little enzymic biological molecules being “boiled up” by the heat from the motor and destroyed.

If you’ve been watching videos comparing between a horizontal mastication and a centrifuge, you will notice that the slow juicer always make a thicker juice with a more vibrant color that is closer to that of what you feed it with. Its strong squeeze takes every single drop of nutritious liquid out of your veggies, leaving only fiber to the pulp.

The machine produces surprisingly tasty juices from slightly mushy fruits like grapes or tomatoes too. It also comes with two different screens, one coarse and one fine, allowing you to choose between having a more fibrous drink, or a quick boost of energy and vitamins.

It takes a couple of minutes to make a full cup of juice, which puts it at a disadvantage when compared to centrifuges which can serve you a drink every 30 seconds. However, considering that it’s the compensation for healthier, more nutritious juices, the 2-minute wait is not exactly a deal breaker.

If you know a thing or two about juicing and already decided you want a centrifuge, check the reviews out to find out the one most suitable for your needs. But if you’re new to it and want a simple but reliable machine to start with, it’s safe to skip the time-consuming search and go directly for the JE98XL.

With a 850 watt motor and super sharp blades on its stainless steel disc, the JE98XL can handle the toughest materials. On the high speed mode (12,000 rpm), it extracts juice out of the hardest fruits/veggies, from apples and carrots to tough roots like ginger or turmeric.

The low speed setting, meanwhile, reduces oxidation when you juice softer, succulent materials like cucumber or cherries. True to its name of a fast juicer, the machine is designed for people who don’t have much time to spend.

I do cut my apples and carrots into halves and quarters so it’s easier on the machine, but technically you can just throw a whole Gala in and the beast will take care of it. It typically takes less than a minute to make a full cup of juice, even if you don’t push the plunger down the chute to force it.

cabbage juice benefits many benefit healthy drinks drinking
(Source: healthyfocus.org)

While its blade chamber is super effective for firm fruits and veggies like carrots or apples, it doesn’t work that well on separated thin leaves. You can create some juice by packing the leaves together, but it still wastes too much of the veggies to consider it worth the effort.

Then there are worries about the high speed destroying the enzymes and antioxidants with heat and exposure to the air. The theory makes sense, but there’s no solid studies to prove it yet, so I’ll give it the benefits of doubt in now.

All in all, the JE98XL does a decent job at making fruit and firm veggie juices at an incredibly fast speed. If you’re new to juicing and want a basic, affordable machine to test the water with, we’d highly recommend this one.

Verdict Affordable, simple in design and highly functional, the Seville JE98XL is the best centrifugal juicer to buy in 2020. Efficient and more on the affordable side of these fancy machines, the Green star Elite is understandably one of the most desired stars in the juicing world.

Strong twin gear No need to precut sinewy veggies Various pressure settings Different screens to allow now or more pulp Also works as grinder/blender 15-year warranty for household use, 3-year for professional When you feed the machine with fruits and veggies, it will first crush and slice them all up using its pocket recesses.

This significantly reduces clogging and tangling (but if that ever happens, there’s a Reverse button to release the culprit). The machine doesn’t stop there: it continues to mix the ingredients up, and squeeze the pulp for the very last drops of juice.

With pocket recesses in its teeth, the Elite is highly efficient in juicing tough materials like ginger or carrot. The gears do a fabulous job breaking into the smallest particles of the fresh veggies, turning it into a nutrient-dense liquid ready for immediate absorption.

When juicing the soft, mushy fruits, remember to loosen the knob to reduce pressure. The Tribes Green star Elite is one of the more affordable twin gear juicers on the market.

On the bright side, it never tips forward like the Super Angel tends to do when you press the plunger. Rather, the machine is for individuals with a strong determination to make healthy juices a part of their diet for long term.

Verdict Strong, solid, double-geared, and coming with multiple accessories to allow more options in juicing and food processing, the Tribes Green Star GSE5000 is the best twin-gear juicer you can find for less than 600 bucks. Horizontal juicers are most of the time loved for a simple reason: they look neat and stylish, and tend to take up less countertop space when not on operation.

Makes very vibrant and tasty green juices, though you may find the pulp a bit wetter than say, that from a twin gear. You would think that, with a 3 inches wide feeding chute that could fit a whole apple in it, the machine would save a lot of your prepping time.

Verdict Neat, quiet, simple in design but strong and effective in making nutritious juices and milk, the Kg is the best vertical masticating juicer to buy in 2020. It’s specifically wildly loved by aficionados who believe in the ultimate power of fresh, oxidized juices.

Sturdy, durable Efficient Dripping-free spout Accommodate to most citrus types and sizes Easy cleanup with dishwasher safe removable parts A customer-oriented Design The juicer comes in a professional-grade brushed stainless steel housing that looks pretty easy on the eyes.

It’s thick, heavy, sturdy, and feels like it can stay new for at least a decade to serve you your favorite fresh juices. The machine is super simple to use: cut your citrus in halves, put them onto the cone, and press the handle.

With four smart fins on its stainless steel juicing cone, the 800CPXL can accommodate most types of citrus: from things as small as limes to larger fruits like grapefruits, and even some non-citrus like pomegranates. There’ll be a learning curve on how to place some awkwardly asymmetrical fruits onto the top of the cone so that they come out perfectly and evenly juiced, but you will most definitely get the hang of it after the 15th orange.

Verdict Sturdy, function-based, and thoroughly designed in the smallest details to excel at what it does, the Seville 800CPXL is the best citrus juicer on the market for the quality. They are well known throughout the world for their high quality juicers, coffee makers, ovens, and electric cookware.

Their centrifuges are in no way inferior, with all parts that come in direct contact with the food being made from BPA-free materials. In the last 30 years, the small but continuous improvements and enhancements in their products have made the brand irreplaceable in the juicer market.

Founded more than a century ago, Hamilton Beach is a trusted American manufacturer of home appliances, including blenders and juicers. The juicers are usually made with large feeding chutes that can fit whole fruits and vegetables, saving the user a lot of prepping time.

Black+Decker are a name you can’t ignore when looking for a decent citrus pressor or a centrifugal juicing machine. Among their products, the brand enjoyed great sales and a plethora of positive reviews from citrus juice lovers with the CJ625.

Their centrifuges are also well worth checking out, as they pack serious power at super affordable prices, ranging from $40 to $120. Their duo-gear masticates are made of high quality stainless steel inside and out, with precision and aesthetic standards that would please even the most discerning juice lover.

It’s actually the only manual hand-press we’ve chosen to add into this collection, all the others being electricity-run machines, but we had to include it for its quality and affordable price. Hello folks, I plan to give up on morning coffee and substitute it with 8oz green (mostly cabbage) juice.

What I could not find from the posts is how do they perform with juicing cabbage and the greens (I will rarely be juicing citrus fruits and not interested in any other functionality like pasta or sausage making). Although I would like to get masticating juicer like Omega, Champion or Green star, I can't afford to pay more than $150 unless Jack Balance is terrible in juicing cabbage and the greens.

What I would like to know is,- How does your juicer performs in juicing cabbage and the greens like spinach, kale, celery etc.- How much fiber do you see in the juice ?- How difficult it is to clean?- What are the advantages and disadvantages (Most imp, I am checking Amazon reviews meanwhile)? My husband uses the juicer more than me but my favorite is apple/orange/pineapple. The Jack La Lane is really easy to clean and there is almost zero fibrous material found.

(I live in Florida but your northerners can grow cabbage /collards in spring and fall. You don't need a garden, you can plant them in plastic pots (biggish ones). But...before you spend that money if I were you I'd make sure that cabbage juice agreed with your stomach/colon.

Do you have a juice bar/health store near you to try cabbage juice out? Before I got my juicer I used a blender, put cut up cabbage in with some water then used a strainer after blending to remove most fiber. I got the Jack Balance juicer, works great and isn't overpriced.

Easy to clean and big mouth for quick juicing. Cabbage juice might give you excessive gas or increase stool frequency so don't over do it.

There's lots of good research on vitamin U (found in raw cabbage, aka, S-methylmethionine) for its benefits on mucosal healing... Takes a bit of digging to find it but it is on Pub med for colitis and gastritis. And same for apple polyphenols being highly anti-inflammatory.

I'm actually trying to do a 100ml cabbage 400ml apple blend once a day for a month plus 2 cups of white tea and I might repost here on how I'm doing with it :D so far so good... And hey, if it doesn't help your colitis it'll definitely help keeping other health problems away :) lots of good chemicals in raw fruits and veg.

Thanks for the comments so far, KEEP THEM COMING. To address the concern if cabbage juice is good for my stomach, as I have previously mentioned on this forum many a time that my mom had pancolitis, and she did cabbage +Wheatgrass juice, she is now recovered for 17 years. As and when I visit my parents, I try this combination and it doesn't give any issues to me.

I honestly hate wheatgrass juice, its just too nauseating but I can stand cabbage juice, actually I like it, little sweet. My parents have a centrifugal juicer, and they hate it for juicing cabbage as it needs cleaning between every run.

I just started back yesterday and will continue to do it twice or three times a day for at least a few months. I have a jack balance and it works really well for fruits and veggies.

I've put whole heads of kale and Swiss chard in and get literally a teaspoon of juice. I've to scrub it out clean each time :) cabbage is no messier than other veg, just stinks like crazy...

The trick is to make a big batch and save some for the next day. To avoid making smaller batches and cleaning up each time.

Cabbage doesn't taste as nice the second day. I've stayed away from citrus for several years including lemons, limes etc., due to my colons dislike.

@DarthaMan, Thanks for pointing out the difference between organic and regular cabbage. I was wondering if you could comment on citrus, pineapple, apples, carrots and beets juicing ability of Omega J8003.

I have to accommodate both types of stuff in single one, so it will be good if I could get some idea on its performance on juicing above mentioned stuff. Thanks in advance. Making your own juice at home is more cost effective, convenient, and lets you customize your blend.

This juicer is all about speed, convenience, and simplicity–we highly recommend it for those who are tight on space but want to juice frequently and quickly. Its titanium cutting disc and high-powered 700-watt motor pack a punch (but also make a blender-volume level of noise).

As with most centrifugal juicers, it didn’t yield as much juice from kale as masticating models, but the difference was slight. A very high-design machine, we also love the internal pulp container –it conserves counter space and keeps cleanup and assembly simple.

Some are excellent at just one task: getting every last drop of juice from citrus fruits, like oranges, limes, lemons, and grapefruit. This juicer comes in six cool colors: baby blue, green, pink, red, black, and cream.

Boasting a super strong and fast 1000-watt motor with two speed controls, this machine plows through piles of fruits and vegetables in a flash. A three-inch feed tube lets you juice whole fruits and vegetables with significantly less prep time.

This best juicer is built to last with titanium reinforced cutting blades that stay sharp longer and are made entirely of die-cast materials. It works quietly at slow speeds (only 80 RPM) to extract juice from all kinds of produce.

We did have to spend more time cutting fruits and vegetables up to fit them into the small feed tube and occasionally had to stop juicing and use the “reverse” feature to handle clogs. It also produced slightly less juice from hard fruits and vegetables, and as a horizontal model, it has a bigger countertop footprint.

We found vertical masticating juicers like the Tribes Slow star to be easier to assemble, use, and clean than horizontal models. It has a generous feed tube that makes it easier to prep produce with no motor jams at all–even putting whole leaves and stems of kale directly into the juicer didn’t clog it.

The pulp from the Tribes Slow star was also the driest of all the tests; this juicer machine squeezes every bit of juice from produce with high yields. The Slow star also serves as a multi-purpose kitchen tool; an included Mincing Attachment lets you make sorbets, nut butters, and even cookie dough.

Omega’s newest vertical masticating cold juicer, the VSJ843, is a great choice if you plan to juice leafy greens often and want easy clean-up and storage. Standing at a squat 15.5 inches, this quiet and low-profile juicer will easily fit under low-hanging cabinets or tuck away in a closet, too.

It worked quickly and quietly and can also be used to make nut milks, frozen fruit sorbets, and smoothies. This model comes with a 15-year warranty and is perfect for frequent quality juicing of leafy greens and other produce with easy cleanup.

If you own a juicer, you know it's an investment of time, money, and counter space. But if you prefer to drink your fruits and vegetables, it's worth it in the long run to invest in a juicer, rather than spend money on expensive bottled juices from your health-food store.

But there's one major caveat when it comes to juicing: you can lose a lot of the solid matter in fruits and vegetables. Slow juicers squeeze out the juice with a pressing and grinding method, leaving the good stuff intact.

While slow juicers tend to be more expensive, they're worth the investment if you can swing it. You'll find that vertical juicers tend to have larger chutes than horizontal ones, decreasing your juicing time significantly.

If you're new to juicing it's probably best to stick to a simpler juicer that doesn't have too many advanced features. For our testing we decided to focus on slow juicers (both vertical and horizontal) since they do the best job of maintaining the nutrients in the foods being juiced.

The clean, modern design doesn't take up much space on the counter and would look nice in any kitchen. And for those of you who do your juicing in the morning, this motor on this juicer was quiet while still maintaining enough power to crunch through whole carrots.

This is the only juicer we tested with metal augers, or twin gears, rather than plastic. The pulp nozzle is adjustable, so you can fine tune the pressure inside the auger to get the best yield from your foods.

The cons of this juicer include its size: it's very large and will take up a lot of counter and/or shelf space. It also has a small chute, which Adam found tedious and difficult to use.

However, the outstanding juice yield and well-made design of this juicer make it well worth the high price tag, if you can swing it. While these juicers didn't bring home the gold, some of them still performed relatively well in Adam's testing.

Adam appreciated the large, clear feed chute on this juicer. This was also the only juicer to require the use of a toothbrush in order to clean out the juicing screen.

However, it does boast an adjustable nozzle so you can fine-tune the pressure if the machine is bogging down too much. We weren't able to complete testing on this juicer as it started leaking juice out of the bottom mid-way through.

Unlike its horizontal counterpart from Tribes, this juicer didn't perform well in Adam's testing. For a vertical juicer, this one has a small feed chute, making it tedious to put food through it.

In order to get healthy, enzyme rich, fresh green juice, you need the best juicer available. Some juicers handle citrus well, but won’t juice greens.

This guide will help you learn everything I’ve come to know about how juicers: from what an auger is, to why you want a slow, cold press. While you can make citrus juices with a regular press juicer, you are going to want a masticating style juicer that uses augers to squeeze the juice out of leafy greens such as kale, spinach, wheatgrass, and parsley.

Also, hard vegetables such as carrots, beets, and celery, are best juiced in a masticating juicer. There are wide mouth juicers, slow press, as well as vertical designs to consider.

The problem with buying a really cheap juicer is that you won’t end up with something of quality and you’ll eventually end up with a machine breaks and you won’t be able to make juices. So, spending a few hundred on a high quality juicer is actually going to save you money down the road.

First off, before even we start to review the different models of juicers I wanted to mention the protection plans. There’s a reason that the juicer might be so inexpensive, namely that is made with inferior technology, bad parts, or is simply put together in a haphazard manner.

You don’t want to sacrifice quality for the sake of getting something that is going to save you a few bucks in the short term. Put a very simple way, you want to focus on a quality juicer that will last you a long time and which will stand the up to heavy usage.

The Centrifugal Juicer : This machine will use small blades that spin very fast and chop up the vegetables. Most people who are planning on juicing for health on a daily or weekly basis will do best to pick an auger juicer.

Look at it this way: You want to make a green vegetable drink. I used a classic style centrifugal model for a long time, and besides it being very noisy, it really didn’t produce much juice.

Auger (also called masticating) are the best juicers to use for leafy greens such as kale, spinach and wheatgrass. This is what I use and what many people consider to be the best juicer for leafy greens that you can buy.

Once you get into options like wide mouth, or self-cleaning, your basically paying for convenience. If you want to start juicing spinach, kale, parsley, and other similar vegetates, then you need to pick the best juicer for leafy greens.

The typical centrifugal juicer is fine for fruit and apples, but it will not extract enough juice. It’s doesn’t have too many parts, it’s quiet, it’s super strong, and you get really excellent quality juice.

It is quiet, easy to assemble and disassemble and clean, and most importantly it provides the healthy juice. I used to use a spinning blade style juicer that made a lot of noise.

You could make juice in the middle of the night and not wake up your neighbors. And if you’re an early riser who wants to hit the gym before work, you can make a fresh juice before the suns up and not wake a soul.

It is so simple that you can do it in under a minute and you won’t have to spend time scrubbing and troubling over all the little bits that other juicers have. Really, if you want a workhouse juicer that will make tons of juice every day, then this is my personal pick.

Maybe you want to take a whole apple or an entire carrot and stick it in the juicer. This means you won’t have to dice up fruits and veggies like apples, pineapple, and carrots.

3 Inch Wide Feed Tube: Excellent for saving time. Those that you do cut up, you don’t have to dice them as small as you might want to with other auger style juicers.

Patented Slow Screw Design: Kings has a patented “slow screw” design that prevents the oxidative damage that many other juicers create when they extract juice. This is essential for maintaining the vitamin, anti-oxidant content, and most importantly the enzymatic quality of the juicer.

This means that you won’t have the vibrations, shaking and noise that smaller, less powerful motors often come with. The Tribes is a great choice for people who want a vertical juicer that has a very slow RPM.

Also, the juice cap lets you pour water in and rinse off the inside when you’re done. If your main concern when making fresh vegetable and fruit juice (particularly when juicing leafy greens) is the nutrients, then you want a slow press masticating juicer.

30 Lbs of Torque: To Squeeze Every Drop Of Juice From Fruits and Veggies. Instead of having a hopper full of wet pulp, all of that juice and liquid will be squeezed out of the veggies and fruit.

This model is the best for people looking to eliminate most of the messy clean up that you have to deal with when you normally make a green drink. It’s also pretty compact for a juicer for this caliber, so if you have a small kitchen space, but still want an awesome juicer for your leafy greens, wheatgrass, pineapple and veggies, then this is a great pick.

They offer a three-step mastication process: cutting, slicing, and crushing. The argument is that only crushing is like chewing food with only your back molars and ignoring your other teeth.

Because it is a cold press juicer, it’s meant to work at a low Rap. When you are making juice you want to use a machine that has a low rpm so that is more nutrients are left intact.

People use this juicer to make everything from healthy organic baby food, to smooth nut butters and healthy desserts such as frozen berry or banana sorbets. The price point on the Green star is a bit higher than other masticating juicers, but it does have some major benefits.

The Green star is for people who have enough counter space to dedicate to a professional quality juicer and want to juice several times a week. If you’ve only dealt with the loud juicers that rattle the entire house, then rest assured this doesn’t sound anything like those.

It is a very high quality juicer and it has lots of accessorizes, but it is not too hard to clean. It gives your super dry pulp and excellent juice extraction.

If your main focus is getting the highest quality juice and the best preservation of enzymes and micronutrients, then this is one of the best juicers on the market. The incorporation of the innovative magnetic and ceramic materials help extract minerals into the juice, which is something you don’t find on any other juicer.

Absolutely perfect for juicing leafy greens and hard vegetables. The twin gear design is great at dealing with fibrous vegetables.

Kale, spinach, wheatgrass, chard, parsley, and hard vegetables such as beets and carrots are juicers perfectly. Buying a fresh juice in a health food store is quite expensive.

Do that several times a week, and you are going to end up with quite the monthly dent in your wallet. You can make yourself those same fresh juices at home with the Green star and recap the cost of the machine in savings in no time.

Buying your first juicer is a big decision and you always want to make sure that you get the best juicer for the money and not end up with something that won’t work or will be too cumbersome. And an even worse outcome is if you end up with a juicer that overheats, malfunctions, or is made of cheap materials.

There is a reason why the really great brands (Kings, omega, Champion) all cost more. Cheap, inexpensive juicers form off-brand companies aren’t the way to go.

But if your main focus at the moment is to find something that’s the best deal, and which will give you the most value for your hard-earned money…then this one is it. You might see that these juicers tend to be a bit more expensive than some centrifugal models, but consider it an investment.

If you buy a cheap juicer, you will save money, but you’re also likely to run into problems down the line. This is especially true if you’re really looking to change your lifestyle and start juicing as a regular part of your diet.

Something such as kale juice can be incredibly powerful, and has been show to be able to prevent coronary artery disease. The great thing about these machines is that the companies tend to offer very strong warranties on their products.

Finally, if you’re planning on making kale, spinach, wheatgrass or any other leafy green juice, then you really have to get an auger juicer. You don’t even have to grow your own wheatgrass, you can now find wheatgrass sold fresh in many supermarkets, health food stores, and many smaller gourmet places that have lots of fresh herbs and cater to the health crowd.

The reason you might want to juice wheatgrass at home is that you will save a ton of money. However, if your instead only planning on making wheatgrass juice and are not a going to be juicing hard vegetables (things like carrots, especially) then you might want to get a manual hand churn style wheatgrass juicer.

This is what I recommend for people who are looking for top of the line wheatgrass juicer that’s not too expensive. It’s a manual juicer, which means you don’t have to worry about hooking it up to an electrical outlet.

The fact that it operates without a motor also means that it’s really quit and also doesn’t create a lot of heat. That last point is important because heat can destroy the valuable enzymes in food.

As you will see in the video, the juicer is super quiet and doesn’t create any loud noise. If you’re not keen on a manual wheatgrass juicer, and would prefer a regular masticating juicer that can also handle hard vegetables and leafy greens in addition to wheatgrass, then I recommend this Omega.

I make wheatgrass with this and one thing I like about it is that you can cut up a whole organic lemon and add it to the juicer. The oil in the lemon skin is very fragrant and the taste overpowers the sometimes unpleasant flavor of the wheatgrass.

The photo above shows the main body, which is the big chrome section, and the front attachments that are the pieces that you take off when you’re ready to clean it. They lock on very simply and when you’re ready to clean them you just wash them off under running water in your sink.

It’s safer than regular water fast because you won’t be depriving your body of calories. Salt, magnesium, potassium, are all essential and drinking plain water is not going to give you any of these.

There are some ways you can deal with this, such as adding pink sea salt, or getting an electorate water. I would suggest an auger juicer, but especially one with a slow press that has a really fine screen.

Avoid the quick method where you just place the glass right under the spout. The classic Omega Juicer that I use produces a spotless and pulp free juice.

You’ll get some wonderful quality juice with the healthy nutrients preserved. So you don’t have to worry about any of the problems associated with citrus and BPA that you find in some cheaper juicers on the market.

Quiet: None of the loud, noisy issues that you find in cheaper juicers. If you have read a health magazine or watched a documentary about nutrition in the last year, then you will undoubtedly have seen all the attention that has been focused on green vegetables.

Juicing leafy green vegetables is no longer a trend only among the most health conscious people. It’s something that has garnered so much attention: news articles, features on morning talk shows, and even award-winning Netflix documentaries about drinking green juice.

I would rank the Omega and the Huron as the two best and easy to clean juicers for leafy greens. The Green star is a classic machine, and definitely one that someone who wants a top of the line juicer should investigate.

Some lower priced models simply aren’t well suited for someone who wants to drink and make fresh juice with any regularity. The casing, the engines, the all around machines are not the best made, and they are not suited to people who want to make fresh juice every day (especially if its leafy greens, as they are the hardest to juice).

Choose a well known, time tested brand: Omega, Seville (as long as it’s an auger style) green star, Huron. If you are looking to really do lots of leafy green juicing, then you should look into a juicer that has a horizontal design.

The auger style in the vertical design isn’t the best for leafy greens as it tends to bunch up and get a bit backed up. The newest design to hit the market for folks looking for the very best in juicing leafy greens is the Omega Cube.

I’ll have a full review up shortly, but this is an excellent juicer and really should be at the top of the list for anyone looking to make fresh juice from leafy greens. Both of these are often times lumped together with super foods due to their array of health benefits.

There’s also a lot of studies that have shown that drinking cabbage juice can help with ulcers. Likewise, beets are also popular to juice now, and they are great source of promoting nitric oxide in the blood.

This is something that is very important for athletes (one of the reason that it became so popular was that people in Mixed Martial Arts started promoting the use of beet juice). There were early models that were so expensive because they were designed for people who wanted a quality juicer but there was not enough demand.

In fact, it was really easier to simply head to a juicer store and buy your juice fresh. As more and more people began to see the benefits of drinking fresh juice, more companies started to create juicers.

The best juicer for one person’s needs might not be correct for your own diet plan. If you’re reading this, then you are interested in the best juicer for leafy greens (that means kale, spinach, Swiss chard, parsley, wheatgrass).

Juicers that handle leafy greens need to be designed a special way. In the past, people who made green juices were stuck having to use the classic juicer style (centrifugal).

They didn’t have the best yield, they were really loud, they clogged up when they were fed leafy greens, and they ran hot. If you are juicing leafy greens, one of the main things you’re looking to get is chlorophyll, and also zeaxanthin and lutein.

These can be destroyed during the high speed hot process that centrifugal juicers use. This is why people who want to juice leafy greens and fruits tended to gravitate towards auger juicers. Not only are they better at squeezing all the juice out of the vegetables and fruits, they don’t create the high heat that is so detrimental.

The reason I created this website was to showcase the difference between auger juicers and regular juices. I spent a lot of time (and wasted money) with juicers that didn’t cut it.

Instead of getting fresh squeezed juice I got the small bit of liquid that strained out of lots of cut up fruit and vegetables. The reason you want to maximize your juice output is simple.

And there are many healthy benefits to consuming raw, fresh leafy greens as opposed to cooked vegetables as the antioxidant levels will not be as high in cooked leafy greens. This humble vegetable will make an integral and important part of any serious juicing plan.

The fact that it is part of the brassier family that includes numerous and very similar vegetables such as kale, broccoli and BOK chop makes it also harder to distinguish in ancient texts that could otherwise give us clues. All said, the first domesticated use of cabbage is believed to have occurred in Europe, possibly by the Celts or in Mediterranean areas.

Studies have shown that drinking cabbage juice can shrink the size of or even completely heal peptic ulcers. This healing effect is attributed to a phytochemical called sulforphane plus the living enzymes present in cabbage, together they strengthen the mucus lining of the stomach wall.

In some cases 4-6 cups of cabbage juice daily can heal peptic ulcers within two weeks. Cabbage being rich in fiber, low in carbs and packed with nutrients is also a major factor in the prevention of diabetes and many diseases for that matter.

Some people may experience bloating and flatulence from cabbage juice, particularly taken in high doses initially. If you have a hyperthyroidism or a known thyroid issue the contact your doctor before consuming large amounts of cabbage juice.

Cabbage is an excellent source of iodine, which can be harmful to the thyroid in excessive quantities. Let’s jump to the juice recipes and start enjoying the health benefits of drinking green cabbage juice.

Note that cabbage juice is somewhat bitter, adding additional veggies or fruits that have some sweetness can certainly improve palatability. As always, utilize organic when possible to reduce the amount of pesticides finds in non-organic produce.

If you find it a little intense to the taste just add apple for more sweetness and a neutral flavor. Calciferous vegetables contain powerful glucosinolates, phytochemicals that reduce inflammation and help detoxify the body.

A few of pears are added for sweetness to counteract the bitter taste of the juiced lettuce varieties. A glass of juice made from fresh green vegetables in the morning is the perfect way to kick-start your day.

Let’s talk reality for a second here, only drinking a glass of juice in the morning won’t magically give you that hour-glass figure. It sounds pretty cliché, but there’s a reason people suggest that all the time, it is true.

Drinking juices extracted from healthy veggies and fresh fruits is the new “in” thing. A-listed stars like Alma Hayek, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kim Kardashian are die-hard fans of the juice -diet.

In fact, a stroll along the beverage shelves of groceries stores would have you believe that being skinny is no longer a far-fetched dream, with so much juice -based health drinks on offer. Research proves that only sticking to a juice diet won’t make a difference.
