However, health experts warn that this diet may not live up to the hype and could even be a bad idea. This article provides an evidence-based review of the Stood Diet and its potential health benefits.
Two celebrity nutritionists working for a private gym in the U.K. developed the Stood Diet. This diet is based on research on sirloins (Sits), a group of seven proteins found in the body that has been shown to regulate a variety of functions, including metabolism, inflammation and lifespan (1).

Nevertheless, the Stood Diet book reports the results of a pilot study conducted by the authors and involving 39 participants from their fitness center. At the end of the week, participants lost an average of 7 pounds (3.2 kg) and maintained or even gained muscle mass.
In the first week of extreme calorie restriction, only about one-third of the weight loss comes from fat, while the other two-thirds comes from water, muscle and glycogen (3, 4). As soon as your calorie intake increases, your body replenishes its glycogen stores, and the weight comes right back.
A big part of the diet is its green juice, which you’ll need to make yourself between one and three times daily. You’ll need a juicer (a blender will not work) and a kitchen scale, as the ingredients are listed by weight.
The first phase lasts 7 days and involves calorie restriction and lots of green juice. It’s intended to jump-start your weight loss and claimed to help you lose 7 pounds (3.2 kg) in 7 days.

However, you’re encouraged to continue “signifying” your diet after completing these phases by incorporating airfields regularly into your meals. Phase one lasts 7 days and combines calorie restriction and green juices.
For example, eating moderate amounts of dark chocolate with a high cocoa content may lower the risk of heart disease and help fight inflammation (6, 7). Drinking green tea may reduce the risk of stroke and diabetes and help lower blood pressure (8).
And turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties that have beneficial effects on the body in general and may even protect against chronic, inflammation-related diseases (9). However, evidence on the health benefits of increasing sirloin protein levels is preliminary.
For example, researchers have found that increased levels of certain sirloin proteins lead to longer lifespan in yeast, worms, and mice (10). And during fasting or calorie restriction, sirloin proteins tell the body to burn more fat for energy and improve insulin sensitivity.
One study in mice found that increased sirloin levels led to fat loss (11, 12). Therefore, whether increasing sirloin protein levels in the body will lead to longer lifespan or a lower risk of cancer in humans is unknown.
Research is currently underway to develop compounds effective at increasing sirloin levels in the body. Airfields are almost all healthy choices and may even result in some health benefits due to their antioxidant or anti-inflammatory properties.
What’s more, sipping on juice throughout the whole day is a bad idea for both your blood sugar and your teeth (14). Not to mention, because the diet is so limited in calories and food choices, it is more than likely deficient in protein, vitamins, and minerals, especially during the first phase.
For example, the daily recommended amount of protein falls between 2- and 6 1/2-ounce equivalents, and it’s based on several factors, including: Due to the low calorie levels and restrictive food choices, this diet may be difficult to stick to for the entire 3 weeks (15).
Add that to the high initial costs of having to purchase a juicer, the book and certain rare and expensive ingredients, as well as the time costs of preparing specific meals and juices, and this diet becomes unfeasible and unsustainable for many people. Yet for someone with diabetes, calorie restriction and drinking mostly juice for the first few days of the diet may cause dangerous changes in blood sugar levels (16).
During phase one, you might experience other side effects such as fatigue, light-headedness, and irritability due to the calorie restriction. Not to mention, its theory and health claims are based on grand extrapolations from preliminary scientific evidence.
The Stood Diet green juice will keep for up to 3 days in the fridge, so it’s well worth making up a big batch to save time. We usually make the juices up the night before to save time in the mornings.

So I decided the only sensible thing to do for a food blogger like me was to give it a wonderful trial and see if the diet is as good as it claims to be…(and I promise I wasn’t motivated by the coffee, red wine and chocolate…honest! In their book ‘The Stood Diet ’, the authors of the diet list the 20 best Airfields, these are: birds-eye chilies, buckwheat, capers, celery, cocoa, coffee, extra virgin olive oil, green tea, kale, lavage, medical dates, parsley, red chicory, red wine, rocket, soy, strawberries, turmeric and walnuts.
The Stood Diet was created by nutritionists Aiden Noggins and Glen Matter. They then tested this diet on participants from an exclusive London gym and were amazed by their findings.
Gym members lost an average of 7lbs (3.17ks) in the first 7 days, despite not increasing their levels of exercise. Not only did the participants lose a substantial amount of weight, but they also gained muscle (usually the opposite happens when dieting) and reported significant improvements in overall health and well-being.
The diet consists of 3 Sirtfood-rich green juices and 1 Sirtfood-rich meal and 2 squares of dark chocolate. Each day involves 3 Sirtfood-rich meals and 1 green juice, plus the option of 1 or 2 Stood bite snacks, if required.

While I’m not a fan of the severe calorie restriction in Phase one of the diet, I have zero problem with trying to incorporate more airfields. After all, foods like kale, strawberries, parsley, and turmeric are well-known to be rich in disease-fighting antioxidants (particularly polyphenols) and essential nutrients.
In fact, many of these airfields are often associated with other healthy eating patterns like the Mediterranean and MIND diets. But what I wasn’t sure about when reading about this diet was the claim that sirloins turn on a “skinny gene” in our bodies.
Additionally, some studies also suggest that sirloins may play an important role in reducing inflammation and help us live longer. However, we still just don’t know enough to say with confidence that increasing levels of sirloins will boost your body’s fat burning abilities.
So unless you continue to eat a healthy diet, exercise, and reduce your calories, there’s a good chance you’ll end up putting the weight back on. In fact, doing so can be very positive for your diet as they are rich sources of important antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.
Whether you want to try adding more airfields into your diet, or opt for another dietary approach such as Plant Based or Mediterranean, don’t forget to use your Lose It! Tabloids, internet trolls, and even everyday people pick apart that person’s body, what they’re wearing, and fixate over how to potentially achieve those “results” themselves.

Frequently, these discussions include interest in something called the Stood diet, the eating plan that Adele reportedly used for weight management.
According to their book, The Stood Diet, there are specific foods (such as arugula, coffee, and dark chocolate) containing compounds that activate a group of seven proteins in the body called sirloins. Noggins and Matter dub sirloins “skinny genes” because activating them, they say, leads to rapid weight loss.
