Years ago I had the opportunity to make Bojangles Biscuits at their test kitchen. I learned so many awesome tips and tricks and now I can share my own perfect biscuit recipe with the world.

You’ll need self-rising flour, unsalted butter and shortening (cut into small pieces), and buttermilk. The flour mixture should still have chunks of butter and shortening that are the size of small peas.

Use a wooden spoon and mix the flour and buttermilk until it is combined and is a soft and sticky dough. Don’t bother rerolling the dough, this is much easier and allows the biscuits to avoid being overworked.

Air Fry on 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 9 – 10 minutes and golden on top. If it’s taking you longer than expected to shape your biscuits or if they start to feel extra sticky, do the optional step and stick them in the fridge to get them cold again.

Optional step: Place your biscuits in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to ensure they stay cold. Once biscuits are formed, place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper about 1 inch apart.

If it’s taking you longer than expected to shape your biscuits or if they start to feel extra sticky, do the optional step and stick them in the fridge to get them cold again. Bake them in your air fryer or oven straight from the freezer for the same amount of time.

Two out of the four aunts on my mothers’ side of the family, married men from the American armed forces and eventually moved over to the US. This meant that whenever they were visiting us in England when I was growing up there was always an American food influence.

My mum loved it because she got to try food long before it had become popular in England. I remember her telling me about the first time she had sushi and how when her sister made it for her, it wasn’t in the UK at all.

It also means that I have a better than most knowledge of American Vs UK cuisine and that over the years I have learned more and more cooking terms. I know if I need to, I can call on any of my friends that I have made, and they will tell me what it is on the other side of the ocean.

In the UK we would call them savory scones or dumplings and just like in America love them as part of a hearty meal. For example, the British version will have a much lower butter count and uses cheese to combine the ingredients together.

They cook them so well and give you a wonderful crunch on the outside and a tender in the dough in the center. The greatest thing of all, is that you can also freeze leftover biscuit dough for later or use them for all kinds of cooking.

It works perfectly when cooking dough or food that you want to secure in place. It cooks your biscuits at a medium temperature so that they are not overcooked but still have a wonderful golden glow.

Add in your egg, milk and cheese and mix with a fork, then use your hands to form a biscuit dough ball. Place in the air fryer, cook a batch at a time and then serve.

Load into a mixing bowl your flour, seasoning and butter. Add in cheese, egg and whole milk and mix with a fork to begin with and then use your hands to make a big biscuit dough ball.

Load onto your air fryer grill pan, making sure they are not overlapping and cook for 8 minutes at 180c/360f. I made classic cheese biscuits therefore, I used just salt, pepper, thyme and mustard.

Now I don’t hate canned biscuits, they have their job when you are in a huge time crunch. But, nothing beats a warm fresh biscuit that you can add a dollop of butter or spread on some jelly or jam.

Instead of the traditional route to making biscuits in the oven, I reached for the Hairdryer. Then a lot of times the scones will be mixed with herbs, fruit, or topped with a glaze.

Allow your biscuits to fully cool, and then transfer them to an airtight container or sealable bag. I find that storing in the fridge offers a longer shelf life, and prevents less waste.

A lot of times baking powder can go bad and you will add it to a recipe and find your dish falls flat, and this is the last thing we want with the biscuits. To know if your baking powder is still good, you simply take a teaspoon and pour it into a bowl that is oven safe.

Place them evenly in the AF basket or Hairdryer oven rack. Toss in the Hairdryer oven at 300 degrees and heat until the biscuits are fully warmed up.

Add in buttermilk and, stir until the milk and flour come together to form a dough. Arrange the biscuits in a pan that fits into your fryer, in one layer, and brush with the melted butter.

Also, if it’s the holidays you might not have any room for another sheet pan so this solves that issue. Yes they’re great baked too but airfryerbiscuits are just as fantastic and don’t heat up your entire house.

I haven’t tried Rhodes brands in there yet, but we use them often to make smoked bread. I don’t suggest using parchment paper because then it inhibits the flow of hot air to brown the bottoms.

It makes frozen food in air fryer so good, surprisingly so. It makes the insides soft and perfect while the outside gets crunchy just like if you broiled or deep-fried all the things.

We like to make these for lunch instead of bread and stuff them full of ham and cheese, so they’re warm and the perfect comfort food. Prepare Preheat air fryer to 340 degrees F for 5 minutes.

If using smaller biscuits they may not take as long, just check that they’re done in the center before consuming. Break them in half and add butter, homemade jam or meat and cheese for lunch.

Don’t brown them too much as they’ll get tough, just enough to get a bit of crisp on the outsides and ensure the inside is fluffy and no longer doughy. Spray the basket and set to 330 degrees F for about 6 minutes flipping halfway through.

Skip the oven and bake them in your basket in just a few minutes. If using smaller biscuits they may not take as long, just check that they're done in the center before consuming.
