Ready in only twenty minutes, airfryerchickenthighs are a staple in my kitchen. Add a quick salad, veggies, potatoes, or even cook up a box of mac and cheese.
But honestly, unless I’ve been in a real meal-prepping mood, I usually need to cook the chicken before proceeding with the recipe. Whether you’re making airfryerchickenthighs the star of your meal, or including them in a more complicated recipe, you’ll find yourself turning to this easy cooking method often.
In a large bowl, coat approximately two pounds of chicken thighs with a bit of olive oil. Place the thighs in a single layer in your air fryer.
Another factor that affects cooking time is the size of the thighs. Barbecue rub : this blend of dark brown sugar, salt, pepper, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground mustard, celery seed, and cayenne pepper adds so much flavor.
Just plain seasoned salt would be good or make it as spicy as you like it with pepper. Leftover chicken, wrapped well, will last up to four days in the fridge or you can freeze it to use later.

The air fryer cooks fried chicken without oil which we love! It is important to flip them halfway through so you get a nice golden brown on both sides.
Here is a quick rundown of how to air fry thighs easily. Prepare Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees for at least 5 minutes.
This makes the pieces generally healthier than oil immersed counterparts. Using an air fryer to cook bone in chicken thighs can cut calories and fat content.
You won’t lose that crispy outside you love though, that is even better than in the oven at 350 degrees yet similar to deep-frying. I haven’t found many at all myself other than some models have a pretty small basket.
Calories, saturated fat and other amounts will vary depending on the cuts you choose, and size. (or if you want to just sprinkle with salt and pepper, skip this step) Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees for at least 5 minutes.
Trim any excess fat hanging off the sides of your chicken thighs (ours were bone-in with skin on). Rub olive oil on each thigh and put herbs and spices on top and bottom.
Rub olive oil on outside each chicken thigh, top and bottom. Press thigh on to plate so spice mixture sticks, do this on both sides.
Then open lid and flip all chicken thighs over so skin side is now facing up. * Percent Daily Values are based on a 2000 calorie diet.
AirFryerChickenThighs are a game changer for quick weeknight dinners! All it takes is 20 minutes to get impossibly crispy skin and juicy, tender air fried chicken.
Cooking chicken thighs in the air fryer is so easy and PERFECT for busy weeknights. Flip the chicken and fry an additional 6-8 minutes, or until a thermometer inserted in the thickest part of the meat reads 165 degrees.
Now, I take 5 minutes to put these chicken thighs in the air fryer, and they’re done by the time the other ingredients are prepped. I’ve found 375 degrees to deliver the best combination of crispy skin and juicy, tender meat.
I bought an insert for mine in the hopes that I’d be able to stack, but stacking caused the top layer of chicken skins to burn while the chicken underneath wasn’t cooked through. Just remember, air fryers work by circulating hot air around the food, so you need space on all sides of the meat in order for it to crisp properly.
One of the selling points of the air fryer is how little oil you need to get crisp food. I’ve found most recipes benefit from a small amount of oil, but not much.
You can use skinless thighs if you prefer, but you won’t get the crispy skin, which is the best part! My air fryer does not require any preheating, but I always recommend you read your manual for model-specific instructions.
Air fry the chicken for 10 minutes, then flip and fry an additional 6-8 minutes or until a meat thermometer inserted at the thickest part of the meat reads 165 degrees. Always check your own air fryer manual for preheating and frying instructions.

For the most accurate calculation, I always recommend running the numbers yourself with the specific products you use. This airfryerchickenthighs recipe makes ridiculously tender, juicy, and flavorful chicken with minimal effort.
Seriously, it’s as simple as tossing some boneless skinless chicken thighs in a quick marinade before throwing them in the air fryer. It’s a really simple recipe, but I’ll run through equipment and ingredient notes in more detail below.
There’s a printable recipe card at the bottom of this post, if you haven’t already skipped there! If you have any questions I don’t cover, leave a comment at the bottom of this post.
The recipe calls for marinating at least 2 hours, but you could always extend that window for more flavor. As for the other ingredients, you could use Dijon mustard, fresh rosemary, and *gasp* bottled lemon juice.
A food thermometer is great to have on hand to check the internal temperature of proteins during cooking. The only tip I have would be to get some mustard seeds, peppercorns, and rosemary leaves on top of the chicken thighs.
That will give it more color and texture on top, which makes for a better eating experience. As a food safety note, be sure to bring the remaining marinade to a boil for a few minutes to kill any duckies (bacteria) from the raw chicken thighs.
To make the sauce, pour the remaining marinade into a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and add 2 tablespoons of both light butter and honey.
Mix all the ingredients except the chicken in a 8×8 baking dish or shallow resealable container. If you air fry them immediately after the first batch, they'll likely cook a bit faster (by 1-3 minutes).
**You can use other store bought balsamic vinaigrette in place of the Trader Joe's version. For the Optional Sauce To use the remaining marinade, bring it to a boil in a small saucepan and cook for a few minutes before turning off the heat and adding 2 Tbsp (28g) light butter and 2 Tbsp (42g) honey.
Be sure to fully boil the remaining marinade for food safety purposes. Nutrition Facts Notes Each chicken thigh has 5 WW SharePoint (blue plan).
The nutrition facts are for the chicken thighs and marinade since there's no accurate way to calculate how much is discarded. If you use the remaining marinade to make a sauce, each chicken thigh will have 345 calories, 33g of protein, 13g of carbs, 15g of fat, and 8 WW SharePoint (blue plan).
Once I got an air fryer and made chicken thighs in it, I have not gone back to the oven method. The crisper plate in my fryer retains the heat as nicely as my cast iron skillet.
Note: There are hundreds of different air fryer models from a few dozen companies like Power, Nu wave, Email, Cuisinart, Phillips, Freeware and several others. I highly recommend getting a digital meat thermometer, if you don’t already have one.
There are only 5 ingredients: chicken, olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika. Feel free to add any of your favorite herbs and spices.
It called for cooking the chicken thighs in mustard with plenty of herbs and tomatoes added near the end. The thighs are marinated in olive oil, mustard, lemon, honey or maple syrup, and herbs before air frying.
Place the chicken, skin side up, on the crisper plate or basket of the air fryer. Cook for approximately 18 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 °F when checked with a digital meat thermometer.
Remove the thighs to a cutting board and allow them to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Serve the whole thighs with air fryer French fries and a simple green salad.
Rinse the chicken thighs under cold running water and pat dry with paper towels. Place the marinated chicken, skin side up, on the crisper plate or basket of the air fryer.

Pour 2/3 of the sauce over the chicken, rotating each thigh until evenly coated. Place the chicken, skin side down, on the crisper plate or basket of the air fryer.
Cook for another 7 to 12 minutes until the skin begins to get crispy, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 °F when checked with a digital meat thermometer. Serve the whole thighs over Jasmine rice with herbs and butter (recipe follows) and a side of sautéed BOK chop.

You can make it with sweet and sticky barbecue sauce, plain old salt and pepper, or any flavors you like. I used my go-to chicken seasoning which consists of salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
Because we plan to air fry them after we pressure-cook them, we want to use the basket so there’s less to clean! Now, you want to put on the pressure-cooking lid and make sure the steam vent is closed.
I used my go-to spice mixture which consists of salt, pepper, onion, garlic, and paprika. Now you're going to shut the air frying lid and set the temp to 400 degrees.
Mine took about 10 minutes to crisp up and register an internal temperature of 165 degrees. As you can see, the air fryer part of the Food is awesome for making the skin crispy and delicious.

This is AirFryerBBQ at it’s finest at the end you get the true BBQ flavor, without a lot of effort, but a tender and juicy piece of meat that you can really sink your teeth into. Today I dredged the chicken legs with flour, which will help you to create a great brown crust.
Which really lets the chicken leg get a nice crust before you add BBQ Sauce. For an added crunch you can also add baking soda, which will give it the crunchy feel of air fryer fried chicken.

Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, combine the ketchup and brown sugar and mix well, on a slow simmer. As you coat the chicken in the sauce, place it on a lined baking sheet, place the baking sheet into the oven using the high broiler, for about 3 to 4 minutes.
