That's why when I discovered that my favorite non-stick pan may or may not be infusing my body with harmful toxins; I was devastated. Since the ease of cooking which my non-stick pan granted to me would no longer be available, I had to seek an alternative.

As a result, I found myself going back to basics with the frustrating iron pan that had me battling dried up bacon and eggs. I had a lot of doubts about the practicability of this pan as durability and safety were a significant issue for me.

Instead of letting the skepticism take over, I decided to visit my old friend Google on the use of ceramic wares for cooking. It turned out that ceramic cookware when produced the right way is very durable and is preferred by some of the best chefs.

So, having cookware that saves me the stress of maintaining my toxicity free lifestyle was a blessing. The Extreme Cookware is free from Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and Perfluorooctanoic acid (FOA).

The PTFE and FOA are harmful substances which lead to damage to the immune system and organs of the body. With the Extreme cookware being free of these chemicals, there is no way it can leach into the body system.

Expenses are a daily part of my household from buying groceries to paying for fuel for the car. Seeing as I am trying to live on a budget and cut down on excesses, having to replace cookware continually is not something I look forward to.

My previous iron pan was due for replacement barely six months into using it. This attribute is unlike the metal counterpart, which can have scratches on it, especially after long periods of cooking.

The Extreme Ceramic Cookware contributes to my efforts of earth preservation. Also, I can make use of a lesser amount of heat to steam and boil, and the results would still turn out okay.

What this means for me is that I save a lot on gas and do my part in protecting the earth. I have lugged my Extreme Ceramic Cookware with me for camping trips and to barbecue.

When I am making a casserole, I layer the ingredients in the pot and place in the oven. One problem I had with my cast iron skillet was the fact that I could still taste the previous meal cooked in it with the new feed.

Also, there was a form of metallic smell when the skillet was left on the gas for too long. Extreme Pure Ceramic Cookware has 8-piece Versa Pot set.

The 16 oz to 1.5 quarts is only capable of cooking small portions of food. For the 2.5 and 3.5 quart saucepans, they can handle a higher amount and are suitable for making large dishes.

If you need to hold a pan for a long time, e.g., when you are frying a pancake, the silicone holder works best. But, if you are opening pot lids to check the state of what you are cooking, the cotton holder works fine.

Stoneware is made of clay that’s fired at a high temperature (1,200 °C) until it’s the consistency of glass, a process called vitrification. Because stoneware is non-porous, any glaze applied to it is purely decorative.

Another type of fired ceramic dinnerware, stoneware is a little more durable than earthenware because the clay is fired at a higher temperature and usually has vitreous (glass) material added to it for strength. Stoneware is a rather broad term for pottery or other ceramics fired at a relatively high temperature.

Pros: High-quality stoneware is completely non-toxic, safe, and can last forever if cared for. A good quality stoneware piece doesn’t absorb odors from things like fish.

Cons: Stoneware pieces are a little heavy and can break or crack if not cared for. Stoneware is fired at a high temperature, 2185 degrees Fahrenheit, and the result is a piece of pottery that is strong and chip resistant.

Stoneware if often used to make mugs and baking dishes and can be safely heated in ovens and microwaves. Stoneware is more opaque than porcelain or china because of its thicker construction and material makeup.

Stoneware bakers and dinner sets are chip-resistant and able to retain their strength during normal daily use. Gdansk Ingram Bone China Dinnerware Collection.

Stoneware is less formal, making it perfect for everyday use. These durable dishes can handle microwaving and dishwashers, although you’ll have to be careful of extreme temperature changes.

Corell dishes are more resistant because they are made of tempered glass. This makes the glass more resistant to breakage but certainly does not immunize it from it.

A material’s hardness is determined by measuring the size of an indentation made by a sharp diamond pressed strongly onto a material specimen. The hardness of alumina ceramics is nearly three times that of stainless steel; silicon carbide is more than four times harder than stainless steel.

Diamond can be considered as a ceramic as it is the hardest material, brittle, and has high melting point. The diamond is a particular crystalline form consisting of carbon atoms.

Conventional ceramics, including bricks and tiles, are well known for their ability to withstand high temperatures. In addition to being free of lead, cadmium, and toxic metals, as well as FOA, PTFE and ceramic Sol-Gel chemical coatings, Extreme products have a high gloss finish and are dishwasher safe.

However, since Stoneware is made from natural clay, it may contain trace amounts of lead. The Stoneware has been tested and meets or exceed all regulations and is food-contact safe.
